The Gambia
Transition to Home in The Gambia Keeps Families Together.
ONETrack International has partnered with Future for Farato to support orphaned children in The Gambia.
Future for Farato has over 100 children in their program, many of which are orphaned children living in the households of surviving family members. Taking on the responsibilities of a young relative is a difficult endeavor for families with limited means. There are many expenses to be considered: food and healthcare, school fees and uniforms.
The Gambia has many parentless children and is one of the youngest countries in Africa, with nearly half of the population under the age of 13. Often children are forced to find work to contribute to their families’ living expenses and daily needs. This burden is disproportionately placed on orphaned children living in foster care. Many parentless children in The Gambia do not attend school due to their inability to afford the necessary fees. ONETrack and Future for Farato ensure that the parentless children within our care will never need to participate in labor and miss school in order to support their own educations.
ONETrack International is supporting the Future for Farato program and will continue to expand our role through future sponsorships in families practicing Transition to Home orphan-care.
